Corn trucks, John Deere and Steak - August 14th, 2006

The second day of our trip began as the first. No real destination, just a general direction. We drove through Indiana to Illinois along the interstate, but since you can't see much farm land from a big highway, we exited shortly to experience a more rural route. We drove past a line of of tractor trailors waiting to unload their cargo into an awaiting train, prompting Jesse to exclaim, "that's a lot of trucks". Turns out they were hauling corn to be shipped to Texas. A fact only interesting to the male occupant of the car. To Jesse's delight we eventually came upon a John Deere dealership and thus took our first tour. You can't tell by this picture since his head is turned, so just imagine the look of glee on his face. After Illinois, we entered Iowa. Not much to say about Iowa....lots of corn. We spent the night at Green Valley State Park which is about an hour and a half east of Omaha, Nebraska. The campground was really small but nice. Our site was right on the edge of a lake and the bathrooms were clean. Plus we had steak for dinner so what more could you want.
